How to take a compliant photo at home
Stand 1-1.5 meters from the camera with someone else shooting, or use a tripod and timer — selfies distort facial proportions at arm's length. Face a window for even light; avoid overhead sun (nose shadows) and backlights (silhouetting). Keep hair off the forehead, remove glasses if regulations require, and shoot at chest height, not tilted.
The background replacement here works best when the original background is already plain and evenly lit — a white wall beats a patterned curtain every time. Increase the tolerance slider only as much as needed; too high and hair edges start eating into the background color.
